Can Uber Drivers Accept Cash Tips?

It is a common question for drivers and passengers regarding the cash tipping of Uber drivers.

Passengers need to keep in mind that at the end of their trip, they are required to rate their driver on the Uber app.

This prompt appears on the Uber app screen when the driver has completed your ride. Once you provide a rating to your driver, you will be given the option to add a tip for the driver’s use which is separate from the amount made while taking the Uber ride.

This type of option can be availed for the benefit of the drivers. You are free to tip the Uber driver with whatever money amount you want.

The drivers are free to accept the tips at any time. Giving cash to the Uber driver directly is the better option because you would be handing the tip to him in cash form.

Also, it may be impolite if you do not tip your driver because the money you were already giving is going to the Uber right at that moment from which the driver receives his payment but at a later date.

It is also quite nice to tip the Uber driver because it is an act of courteousness. It’s just like a waitress or waiter accepting cash tips.

Tipping your Uber driver is very much like tipping your server at a restaurant because many servers may use the extra money for the ends meet.

They are usually doing a good job in the first place but may not always get paid enough for their service. Its nice if you do pay your Uber driver some tip, may be to the deserving drivers.

The Uber app makes sure that the tips are not included in the fare, but as a rider, you are not obligated to offer your driver extra cash if you decide to tip the driver; that’s entirely up to you.
