16 Things You Didn’t Know About BiteSquad

Every day there are more and more delivery apps available in the stores. It just takes one Google search to find loads of information available online for clients, but what if you want to become a driver? Which one is better? Which one should you choose if you are looking to earn some extra cash?

This is a summary of everything you need to know about Bite Squad, one of the most popular delivery apps you can find in the market.  It allows their users to get their food delivered to their door in a matter of minutes and its drivers to increase their income easily.

Here is what you need to know…

How to be a Bite Squad driver?

Becoming a BiteSquad Driver is very easy. All you need to do is filling out an online form with your details, submit it for review and wait for their answer. They will run a quick background check before approving your profile.

Before you submit your application make sure to meet the following requirements: being 18 years or older, having a clean driving record, a valid insurance and driver’s license, as well as a smartphone and an insulated Hot Bag. If you don’t have one, you can buy it from them before you start working.

After you are accepted as a Bite Squad driver, they will provide you with the training resources you need to excel at your new tasks!

How to use Bite Squad driver app?

Using the Bite Squad app is very easy and it will allow you to manage everything related to your account, from orders and deliveries to compensations for the work done. The app also displays notifications with recommended delivery options. Once you are assigned with an order you will be able to see the delivery address in the app (no need for an alternative map or GPS option).

The app is also very intuitive, with commands such as “Accept”, “Decline”, or “Start Working” buttons, it is one of the best options for those that are not very tech- savvy.

How much do Bite Squad drivers make?

Same as it happens with different apps, how much you make depends on factors such as how many deliveries you make, the amount of these orders and if your clients give you any tips.

In average, a Bite Squad driver makes from $14 to $16 per hour but it depends mainly on how many hours they drive.

Do Bite Squad drivers see your tip?

Yes, Bite Squad drivers can see your tips and they receive the 100% of it. Considering tips make up to 50% of their monthly income, any tip you can give them they will highly appreciate it!

Is working for Bite Squad worth it?

Although there have been loads of complains against Bite Squad from their drivers, some of them saying they use tips amount to compensate for their hourly rate (so when tips are high, they pay less for the delivered orders), or arguing about having to pay around $70 in the first month to pay for the kit, training, bag, etc., the company has tried to improve the service for customers over the last couple of years.

Furthermore, the income for drivers (up to $25 per hour with tips included) tend to be a bit higher than their competitors (around $18 to $20).

Is Bite Squad or DoorDash better?

The average hourly income for both apps is very similar (although it is calculated differently), but if you look at other aspects such as customer service or overall product quality, DoorDash seems to be a much better option than Bite Squad.

DoorDash also allows their drivers to multi app (so you don’t have to choose between apps), while Bite Squad does not accept their drivers to do this.

Do you have to wear Bite Squad uniform?

Yes, you do. In fact, Bite Squad takes wearing the uniform very seriously, since it is one of the things that they use to differentiate their service from their competitors.

The uniform consists in the company’s t- shirt and a hat which needs to be worn at all times. Furthermore, the uniform is paid by the driver during the first month and returned if you decide to quit the company.

Does Bite Squad do contactless delivery?

Yes. Same as similar platforms, Bite Squad offers the option to do contactless delivery by dropping the order where the client requests to. Clients will need to enter the instructions for drop off while they place their order.

As a way to protect their drivers Bite Squad also provides their drivers with face masks, gloves and sanitizer, minimizing any health risks.

How much does Bite Squad pay per delivery?

One of the things that differentiates Bite Squad from their competitors is that they do not pay their drivers per delivery, and instead they pay per hour worked. This means that the more hours you work the more income you will have.

There is also an option to earn extra money per delivery (around $1) if you complete these on the requested time (this is based on the scheduled blocks you have set). Further information on this and similar offers will be notified to drivers through the app or during your training.

Does Bite Squad give you a car?

Not anymore. Bite Squad used to accept transportation companies or provide branded cars to their drivers but it was not sustainable anymore so they have now decided that drivers must own their own vehicles if they want to drive for the company.

Does Bite Squad hire felons?

No, in theory they don’t. Although they don’t make any interviews and you can still apply to become a driver, they do run a background check and if they find any felons, they will reject the application.

However, there have been cases of previous felons who have been accepted as drivers. Some of the factors that might influence the decision on accepting you or not as a driver are the type of offenses, if you are a regular offender, and how long has it been from your last offense.

How does Bite Squad delivery work?

Very easy. Once you have downloaded the app you can press the “Start Working” button and accepting or declining the orders as they appear in your screen.

When you accept an order, the app will provide you with the addresses and contact details of the restaurant and the client, you will be able to contact them both directly from your app if you ever needed to.

Bite Squad also suggests their drivers to double check the order’s content and make sure that each item has been included before starting the delivery. Rinse and repeat until you are ready to end your shift by pressing the “Stop Working” button.

Does Bite Squad pay weekly?

No, Bite Squad’s payment cycle is biweekly, and includes tips and whatever amount of money you have made in that time.

However, Bite Squad has recently partnered with DailyPay, which allows drivers to withdraw a certain amount of money before the set payment date in exchange of a small fee.

Do you tip Bite Squad Driver?

Yes. You can tip your Bite Squad driver if you are happy about the service they provided. Considering this can make up to 50% of their monthly income, they will highly appreciate any tip you can give them.

How much to tip Bite Squad driver

There is not a set amount for tips. Same as it happens with similar platforms you can tip your drivers with the amount of money you think is fair considering the service they provided and if you are happy with your delivery.

Although it is suggested to tip the driver with around 20% of the order’s amount, you should also consider factors such as how long have they driven, the distance from the restaurant, if they needed to take the stairs to deliver the order, if it was raining, etc.
